Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Keeps abreast of health and safety policies, procedures and strategies for the company and facility, ensuring compliance by persons associated with Projects under his management.
  2. Liaises between Legal Review and Planning/Estimating to finalize the Contract Document, ensuring that any qualifications/clarifications along with the Client’s Approved for Construction (AFC) drawing and specifications are incorporated into the final Contract Document.
  3. Maintains project schedules in MS Project by assessing task completion progress and inputting percentage complete. Resolves schedule maintenance issues with input from Senior Scheduler.
  4. Notifies General Manager of any risk and opportunities associated with the Project and assists to minimize risks and maximize opportunities.
  5. Conducts all project meetings internal and external and insures preparation of meeting minutes. Prepares action items list and sends to Project team for review, feedback and distribution.
  6. Provides input to support project planning and work package document development. Daily or weekly reporting as to the project status.

Required Education & Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline (e.g. structural, civil, and mechanical) strongly preferred. Degree in Naval Architecture a plus.
  2. Five to seven years Ship repair/fabrication experience preferred.
  3. Three to five years marine project or production management experience preferred or 3 years’ experience with PMI certification or equivalent.

Working Conditions:

  1. Open-air conditions such as noisy, hot, cold, as well as in an office-controlled environment.
  2. Must wear hearing, eye, head protection and proper PPE when required.
  3. May have to visit projects aboard ships or rigs both onshore and offshore as well as confined spaces.
  4. Visits may require standing on a variety of surfaces and at differing angles, bending over, crouching and climbing up and over obstructions such as scaffolding, ladders, and internal barge and boat structural members.

Special Skills:

  1. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, operating and technical manuals, along with drawing and interpreting graphs.
  2. Ability to work under deadlines and schedule pressures.
  3. Strong Organizational skills and able to use time effectively.
  4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Able to effectively speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations before groups of customers or employees.
  5. Strong team player.
  6. Excellent planning, negotiating, and organizing skills.
  7. Ability to motivate co-workers, colleagues and others.
  8. Ability to operate in a systematic and logical manner.
