• Position required extensive travel and assignment to field operations including sea duty. • Task lead on mid-size to large projects. • Assisted Project Managers in conducting surveys, acquiring data, maintaining safe and efficient operations, maintaining accurate survey logs, and data processing while keeping senior and other lead hydrographers informed on progress, issues and decisions. • Performed QA/QC tasks on daily and project surveys. • Performed basic troubleshooting of field and office systems used to acquire and analyze hydrologic data. • Mentor to junior staff.

• Lead Bathymetrist / Lead Hydrographer / Subject Matter Expert (SME) at sea up to 50% of the time, duties and responsibilities consisted of compiling, analyzing, evaluating and refining navigation and oceanographic/hydrographic survey data collected.  Also directed team members; ensured processing was adequately documented; ensured data was processed, validated, and analyzed correctly; Solved hydrographic processing problems; and was responsible for overall quality of the final product. • Mentored & trained newer employees in computer processing and validation • Performed QA/QC on assigned hydrographic surveys. • Built, maintained, and upgraded high resolution gridded acoustic, geophysical, and oceanographic databases that are used in acoustic performance prediction in support of projects for different fleet groups. • Utilized existing scripts for the automation and analysis of geophysical and oceanographic data • Determined available data coverage for assigned areas using various sources. • Generated maps at requested resolutions and scales using available GIS technology • Developed and maintained process flows, including revisions to standard operating procedures.

• Promoted safety of navigation by QA/QC reviews of submitted hydrographic data for accuracy and completeness, enabling timely compilation of navigation products • Provided expertise, advice and support to NOAA field units at sea with data acquisition. • Field duty responsibilities included, but were not limited to, working aboard small boats collecting shallow water hydrographic survey data, installing, troubleshooting, and the operation of various sensors (Multibeam Sonars, Seabird CTD sensors, and sound speed sensors). This included the acquiring, processing, and interpreting sonar and GPS data using common industry software (CARIS). • creating Bathymetric Attributed Grids (BAGs), • Performed chart feature comparisons between acquired data and existing RNC and ENC charts • Writing and updating detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
